How to Keep Your Home Clean When You Have a Dog

How to Keep Your Home Clean When You Have a Dog

You already know one thing and love, loyalty, and happiness, and in addition to fur and muddy paws and a certain mess, they have a dog at home.

But don’t worry. It is not hard to keep your house clean with a dog. It only requires some intelligent practices and minor efforts in a daily routine.

I have faced this myself. I used to wash up the floor thrice a day when I took my dog home and still, I think it was not enough. Gradually, I realized that I had to have a decent system rather than clean all over again and again.

This article will provide simple tips which are practical and really work well especially in Indian homes.

1. Create a Paw washing Routine.

Create a Paw washing Routine.

This is the most significant step.

Whenever your dog returns after a walk, the paws are full of mud, dust and germs. When they run in it, your floor will be soiled up in few minutes.

Always have the following things in view:

·   A small towel

·   A bowl of water

·   Wet wipes (pet-friendly)

·   A paw cleaning cup (optional)

It is better to get used to wiping them off first before fully entering. Your dog will not be obedient at first. However, in several days they will be accustomed to it.

This habit will make you full 50 days less stressed about cleaning.

2. Brush Your Dog Regularly

Brush Your Dog Regularly

Dog hair everywhere? Sofa, bed, clothes?

Cleaning more is not the solution. More brushing is a solution.

In doing this by brushing your dog every day (or at least 3 -  4 times each week) you will have the loose hair on the brush rather than scattered into your house.

In Indian breeds or heavy shedding dogs, it is even more necessary to brush.

Personally, I observed that once I began brushing my hair on a regular schedule, the quantity of the hair on the ground decreased significantly.

Hint: Never brush in the bathroom or open air so that the hair that falls spreads in the house.

3. Select Clean Furniture efficiently.

In case you are decorating your home and you have a dog, be smart.

Instead of:

·  Light-coloured fabric sofas

·  Big curtains caressing the ground.

Choose:

·  Washable sofa covers

·  Darker shades

·  Fabric leathers or wiping leathers.

You can afford not to lose style.

You just got to be smart when picking.

A house that allows dogs will still be pretty and attractive.

4. Vacuum Is Your Best Friend

Vacuum Is Your Best Friend

It is not merely sufficient to sweep when you have a dog.

Good vacuum cleaner will save you a lot of time at a cost.

 It removes:

·  Pet hair

·  Dust

·  Tiny dirt particles

When possible, vacuum at least 3 - 4 times per week. Daily vacuuming in the major places is beneficial in the event of a dog with a heavy shedding rate.

Even a mere handheld vacuum is sufficient to work in sofas and beds.

5. Wash Dog Bedding Weekly

Many people forget this.

Your dog’s bed collects:

·  Hair

·  Drool

·  Dust

·  Sometimes smell

Wash bedding once at least once in a week. In case your dog sheds, do it twice a week.

Clean bedding translates to a smaller number of odours in your house.

6. Have Separate Towels to Your Dog.

Have Separate Towels to Your Dog.

Do not confuse your towels, and your dog towels.

 Keep:

·   One towel for paws

·   One towel for bath

·   1 single cloth of fast cleaning.

This maintains cleanliness and facilitates cleaning.

You may keep them in a little basket by the door.

7. Mop Smartly, Not Constantly

Mop Smartly, Not Constantly

You do not need to wash the floor 3-4 times a day.

 Instead:

·  Have 1 full mop in the morning.

·  Spot clean when needed

Make pet-safe mild floor cleaner. Bright chemicals may damage your dog.

As long as your dog is shedding more at this time of the year, then you can clean only at that time.

8. Control the Smell Naturally

In some situations, dirt is not the problem but it is smell.

Here are simple tips:

·  Ventilate the rooms through open windows.

·   Apply baking soda to the carpets and then vacuum.

·   Wash dog bowls daily

·    Bathe your dog (not too frequent).

Smell may become heightened in monsoon Indian weather. Proper airflow helps a lot.

9. Basic House Rules: Dog Training.

Training is also required in clean home.

Teach your dog:

·  Not to jump on beds

·   Not to enter kitchen

·   To stay on their mat when wet

Life is peaceful with time of training.

I found it so easy to clean the house when my dog learned how to sit by the entrance after a walk.

10. Learn To Accept That There Is No Perfect.

This is important. Even with a dog, your house will never have the appearance of a show room. And that’s okay.

Unconditional love cannot be purchased at a price of much fur on the sofa.

There is no need to worry too much about holding everything to high standards. Concentrate on making it clean and comfortable.
